Will OUTsurance cover stolen work tools from my shed?

Tools securely stored in a shed will be covered under contents insurance. Always check your policy booklet for full details of your cover.

Would OUTsurance cover me if my barbecue caught on fire and caused damage to my property?

Yes — accidental fire damage caused by a barbecue is covered under standard Buildings Insurance, provided it’s unforeseen. Our buildings insurance policies cover:

  • Fire damage to your main structure.
  • Damage to outdoor structures such as sheds.
  • Potential liability for injuries or damage to others.
I bought new garden furniture, do I need to tell OUTsurance or is it covered under garden and leisure equipment optional extra?

It will automatically be covered if you have the optional extra garden and leisure equipment on your current policy. It’s not necessary to ring OUTsurance if you have bought new garden furniture.

If my outdoor equipment is stolen from a garden, will OUTsurance cover me under home, garden and leisure?

Yes — if you have the optional extra Garden and Leisure Equipment on your home insurance, and, the item is designed to be left outside your Home (e.g. garden furniture, BBQ equipment, trampolines). Claims under the garden and leisure equipment are limited to a maximum payout of €1,000 per incident or as defined in your policy schedule.

Who is OUTsurance’s optional extra garden and leisure equipment best suited for?

If you’ve got garden furniture, trampolines or invested any amount of money on your garden and leisure accessories, we would advise you to have our optional extra garden and leisure equipment.

If a guest has a serious accident at a family BBQ, am I covered with OUTsurance home insurance?

Yes – Always check your policy schedule, however you’re covered under OUTsurance home insurance if a guest has a serious accident at your home, including during events like a family BBQ.

OUTsurance home insurance protects you if someone is injured on your property and you’re found legally responsible. It can cover medical costs, legal fees, and compensation up to the policy limit.

A few important things to keep in mind:

  • The injury can not be from wilful, malicious, deliberate or reckless acts and not caused by negligence (like knowingly ignoring a serious hazard).
  • People living in your household and domestic employees are excluded for bodily injuries and death / illness.
